Kuih Sagu

Kuih sagu is a type of traditional kuih that is coated with grated coconut it is red and its flavour is rose. In this recipe I will show you make one with traditional way. It is very delicious. Enjoy !

Ingredients
  • 250g sago
  • water
  • 3/4 tbsp rose syrup
  • 1 pandan knot
  • 300g sugar (Depends on your own sweetness)

Topping 
  • 150g grated coconut 
  • 1/4 tsp salt 

Method
  1. Wash the sago and drain.
  2. Cook the sago with water covered about 1 cm above the sago.
  3. Add the rose syrup to the water with sago stir well.
  4. Add in also the sugar.
  5. Cook till half of the mixture is transparent.
  6. Pour into a greased 6X6 square tin (Depends on your thickness of kuih) and steam for about 15-30 mins or until all the sago has become transparent.
  7. Cool the sago.
  8. Then, cut into pieces.
  9. Steam the topping for 5-10 mins.
  10. Coat the sago with the topping.

Tips :
  • Make sure that it is completely cool before cutting.
