Kuih Keria

'Kuih keria' a sweet alternative to conventional doughnuts. These sweet potato doughnuts which are widely known as kuih keria are one of the delicious kuih found in Malaysia. If you love sweet potato fries, then you're going to love these doughnuts. These kuih keria are fluffy and filled with the natural sweetness of sweet potatoes.

Ingredients
  • 200g yellow sweet potatoes
  • a pinch of salt
  • 100g plain flour
  • water

Sira Gula
  • 60g sugar 
  • 30g water

Method
  1. Peel the potatoes and and soak it in salt water.
  2. Steam the potatoes till soft.
  3. While hot mash the potatoes. Let it cool.
  4. Then, add in the flour little by little till a soft dough but not sticky.
  5. Add water if the dough is dry.
  6. Shape the dough about 40-50 g each into a doughnut shape.
  7. Fry the dough with medium high heat till golden brown and float. Set aside.
  8. For sira gula combine sugar and water cook with low heat till thick and a lot of bubble switch off the fire then add in the doughnut coat each of the doughnut till the sugar crystallized.
  9. Serve.
